What features does this gun have that appealed to you?
Easy racking of the slide on the Shield EZ 380 really appealed to me! I had a Glock 27 40 caliber and a Taurus PT 380 and could not rack either one. I finally found this one. At 70 years old, I have a spinal problem that has weakened my arms and hands. This gun nearly made me cry, I know my mouth fell open when I easily pulled the slide back. Love at first pull. Thumb and first finger! I love this gun.
Tell us about shooting this gun.
Very little recoil. Easy to use and load.
How would you describe the recoil, is it manageable?
Very manageable. No problems at all.
How does it fit your hand, are the controls of this gun easy to use? (Safeties, slide pull, magazine release, trigger pull, etc.)
The Shield EZ 380 fits my hand but it’s a lot bigger than my little Taurus PT. The magazine release is easy. The grip safety is harder for me to get used to, but I’m getting over it! The loaded chamber indicator is a neat thing to have. The manual thumb safety lever is on BOTH sides of the gun which helps being left handed.
Do you like the sights on this gun?
Yes, they are black with white dots, very visible.
How reliable is it?
So far so good.
Any problems with any type of ammunition?
Not so far.
Was it easy to take down and clean?
Very easy, didn’t have any parts left over! (HA!)
Is there anything you dislike about shooting this gun?
I dislike nothing about the Shield EZ 380
For someone considering this gun, what would you tell them?
Go for it! You’ll love it once you try it.
Would you recommend this gun? If no, do you have a preferred gun?
Absolutely recommend it.
Thank you for this review. I’m left handed but having trouble locating this model with ambidextrous levers, in my area of Arizona
Joan, I don’t know where you are in Arizona, but I got mine from Sportsman’s Warehouse in Phoenix. I ordered online and chose which location to pick up at.
