What features does this gun have that appealed to you?
small size, night sites, external safety – I have 3 grandsons, and this is the last safety measure (yes, the gun is locked up), easy slide, I love the look of the Pearl – black with a bit of femininity!
Tell us about shooting this gun.
Last night was my first time shooting my gun (I had rented one before). It was amazing to shoot – easy and accurate! I am new to the gun world, having only shot about 200 rounds before this gun.
Please share: How does it fit your hand, how do you like the sights, how difficult is it to rack the slide, how would you describe the trigger pull, and how would you describe the recoil?
This gun fits my hand extremely well. I have medium hands for a lady. The gun was extremely accurate, as you can tell by the picture. The slide was very easy to work (even my 90-year-old mom with arthritic hands could work the slide). The sites are easy to aim with, and I love that they glow at night. The trigger pull is short, so my hands do not start to shake before the gun goes off. The recoil is hardly noticeable.
How reliable is it?
I have only shot 53 rounds with this gun, but I had absolutely no problems with jamming, not loading, etc.
Any problems with any type of ammunition?
None that I know of.
Does the gun have any specific ammunition requirements? If so, please explain:
None – I was told to use American made only.
What do you dislike about shooting this gun, if anything?
Nothing!
Was it easy to take down and clean? Please share.
My husband cleaned it for me last night. It was simple to do, and I will do it next time.
Would you recommend this gun?
Yes
For someone considering this gun, what would you tell them?
When I was looking for a gun, I rented a Glock 43, Ruger, and The Shield. As I was leaving the range, the sales lady got a twinkle in her eye and said, “Let me show you the Sig.” When she put it in my hand, it was love at first sight! I found a range that had one for rent, and compared the three guns again, adding the Sig. The Sig was definitely my favorite! My husband wanted me to get the Shield, which is a great gun, but I really struggled with the slide on the rental one. I came home and spent hours reading the reviews on this website, and came away convinced the Sig was the one for me! For someone considering this gun, try it! Read the reviews. It is more expensive, but I think it was money well spent!
Anything else you would like to share about the gun?
Last night my instructor at the safety class is a SWAT leader. He was telling the class about how wonderful Glocks are, and he had them using the Glock 19 and 43. When he came to help me, he pulled back the slide and his face was priceless. He asked if I had someone work on the gun, and I told him it was fresh out of the box. He was amazed! Later he came to check out my shooting and commented on the accuracy of the Sig. I do believe the gun impressed him!
I just bought a new Sig P238 and I love it! I so much agree with these
reviews they are easy for a woman to rack and load. The night sights are just
great and the Sig P238 is very comfortable fit in my hand, since I have small
hands. The recoil is not at all what I thought it was. It is good! The gun is
very accurate and easy to conceal carry. I would highly recommend this
gun to woman that want a good conceal carry and reliable weapon.
Thank you Sig for making a great model and dependable P238.
