Glock G42 Usage and Features
Are You Right or Left Handed?
What features does this gun have that appealed to you?
Size and mechanics. Large enough to shoot comfortably but small enough to carry. Mechanics same as my larger 9mm.
Tell us about shooting this gun.
Several trips to indoor and outdoor range. Many sessions with fire arms instructor present. More than 500 rounds of different brands of commercial ammo.
Please share: How does it fit your hand, how do you like the sights, how difficult is it to rack the slide, how would you describe the trigger pull, and how would you describe the recoil?
Fit was excellent. Very comfortable to shoot. I added magazine extension to give more contact for grip….to address “limp wristing” failures (slide failure to cycle fully).
How reliable is it?
Very unreliable due to frequent failure of the slide to cycle fully (causing failure to load, failure to eject and double feeds). I worked with this pistol for one full year and was not able to overcome the limp wristing. Very frustrating and disappointed, but cannot count on this pistol. This is a very prevalent problem with compact polymer pistol, especially in Glock and especially in .380. Switching to Sig p238 which does not have a polymer frame.
Any problems with any type of ammunition?
Does the gun have any specific ammunition requirements? If so, please explain:
Literature review suggests reloaded or target weight is not advisable. I only used factory ammo.
Was it easy to take down and clean? Please share.
Yes. Very easy
Cleaned it many times. Careful to make sure we’ll lubricated too
Would you recommend this gun?
For someone considering this gun, what would you tell them?
Try it first. If it fails. Don’t buy it. Don’t go on name only.
