What features does this gun have that appealed to you?
I decided to purchase this gun for a few reasons. First, it felt good in my hand. I was told it had an easier racking mechanism than most other 9mm and it didn’t have as much recoil. I currently own a 22 S&W that had a manual safety, which I like and am used to. The CCP also had this feature. Since this is my first experience with a 9mm, I decided to start here.
Tell us about shooting this gun.
I have had this gun for a week. I took it to the range over the weekend. I enjoyed shooting this gun. It did feel good in my hand and it definitely had less recoil. It didn’t rack as easily as I had hoped but I think with time it will work better and racked much easier than the other 9mm I used to compare. It also has a little bit longer trigger pull than my 22 S&W but still was a nice gun to shoot.
Please share: How does it fit your hand, how do you like the sights, how difficult is it to rack the slide, how would you describe the trigger pull, and how would you describe the recoil?
The gun fits nicely in my hand and the sights were right on target. The racking was easier than others but still caused me a little bit of trouble. It seemed there was a long distance on the trigger pull compared to my other gun but not bad. I really liked the fact that it didn’t seem to recoil as much as other 9mms I had used.
How reliable is it?
I have only had it out once but I did have some issues with stovepiping. I intend to try some other ammunition to see if that is the problem.
Any problems with any type of ammunition?
I used Remington 115 Gr FMJ in this gun. It handled a couple of rounds well but then I started experiencing stovepiping. Will be experimenting with other ammo.
Does the gun have any specific ammunition requirements? If so, please explain:
According to the manual, you should not use +P+ in this gun. It also said you should use ammo specifically recommended by Walther but I cannot locate what their recommendation is on their website.
What do you dislike about shooting this gun, if anything?
Other than my concern about the stovepiping, I enjoyed handling and shooting this gun.
Was it easy to take down and clean? Please share.
I hesitated to buy this gun because many people said take down and cleaning were difficult. The gun comes with a special tool and does require a little patience but I was able to take it down, clean it, and get it back together with some help from YouTube videos. Just like anything else, the more you do it, the easier it becomes.
Would you recommend this gun?
Yes
For someone considering this gun, what would you tell them?
Don’t let the negative reviews on take down and cleaning of the gun affect your decision. If it feels good in your hand, it will feel good to shoot.
