I carry in a carry purse and I carry every time I leave the house. The only time that I don’t carry is if I go into a federal building and I leave my weapon in a compartment in my vehicle.
I was reading about the recent kidnapping of the woman in Illinois who was taken from a mall at knife point and made to drive twenty miles after being cut on the arm. The kidnapper threw her cell phone out of the car during the drive. When they stopped, the kidnapper got out of the car and dropped his knife. When he bent over to pick it up, she reached into the glove compartment, grabbed her weapon and pointed it at his chest telling him that she would shoot him if he came any closer. He ran into a house and she drove to the hospital. He was arrested and she received stitches.
My concern is that I put my purse either on the passenger seat or on the floor between the my seat and the passenger seat behind me. I do this so I can reach my weapon. Now I am concerned that if somebody does enter my vehicle they might take my purse and throw it out of my van or put it where I can’t reach it. I’m also concerned that if I put it in my glove compartment, I won’t be able to reach it if somebody is in my passenger seat. I do have a compartment between the driver’s and passengers seat.
Does anybody have any suggestions? How do you carry in your car if you don’t carry on your body? Thank you for your time.

Here are a couple of ideas. I have what is called a Gunizer (Walmart) but I bought mine at a gun show. It fits any gun. There is a clip on the back the you can hook into the base of the steering wheel column. I carry there when in the car. You can then take it off and wear it IWB or OWB. Only about $20.
I also purchased a Shape Shift Holster kit from AlienGear and included was an attachment for your car.
I would think you could also find a place next to your door somewhere to put either of these. Then practice shooting left handed.
