I was 18 years old and went deer hunting with my then boyfriend. I had no idea he had taken acid. Well before the incident happened we stopped and rested so my rifle wasn’t close to me. At that point in time, he was high. He then wanted me to run in the woods like a deer cause he wanted to hunt me. I’m not sure why I pulled my next move as I did. I stood in front of him faced him and told him I’m not running you want to shoot me then do it. I didn’t do anything but stared at him for what seemed like a long time. All of a sudden he changed back to himself. I then grabbed my rifle and told him I was done hunting. I stayed calm or shocked until we got to safety. I think I just wanted a way from him so I just packed my stuff and left. I didn’t even report it I’m not sure why. I didn’t touch another gun until I was in my 40’s. I’m now learning slowly just how to handle a gun of any kind again. I truly wish I knew about this stuff back then. I’m glad I found the well armed woman. I’m looking forward to learning and growing in any and all safety for myself and my family.
