Oct. 8th.

A new shooting club is forming in southeastern Michigan for women that like to shoot or are interested in learning. The Well Armed Woman (www.thewellarmedwoman.com) currently has about 121 women’s shooting chapters across the U.S. The new southeastern Michigan chapter is sponsored by Close Quarters Tactical (www.cqtusa.com) located at 50485 Utica Drive, Shelby Twp., MI 48315 and will meet there on the third Tuesday of every month, from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m.

The first meeting will take place at Close Quarters Tactical on Oct. 15, 2013 from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. The first meeting is open to all women 21 years and older, of all experience levels. Additional membership information is available online at www.thewellarmedwoman.com or by emailing detroittwaw@hotmail.com. Monthly chapter meetings and range time will be free for enrolled members.

The primary goal of The Well Armed Woman Southeastern Michigan Shooting Chapter is to provide women with resources needed to improve their shooting skills in a comfortable and safe environment. Lisa Lipka, southeastern Michigan chapter leader, stated “Woman shooters are the most rapidly growing demographic. Women want to learn and practice, but do not know where to start or are intimidated by male instruction. Our group is comprised of all women, helping and teaching women.”

Chapter information indicates the club is ideal for women that:

  • Are just getting started with buying, shooting and caring for firearms and want to learn in a comfortable environment
  • Have some level of experience and want to advance their skills
  • Want to share their knowledge and expertise to help other women
  • Want to have some fun and enjoy learning and shooting in the company of other women

Typically, each monthly meeting will include one hour of gun and safety education, followed by one hour of shooting time at the Close Quarters Tactical shooting range. Lipka can be contacted by email for additional information at detroittwaw@hotmail.com.
