A woman was at home when a man broke into her home and attacked her. She was going about her day as usual when the unthinkable happened. The attacker cut her and attempted to harm her further but, thankfully, she was able to get away.
Man Breaks into Home, Cuts Resident with Knife
NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) – The NOPD says they are looking for a man they say forced his way into a woman’s home, cut her with a knife, and attempted to suffocate her.
Police say the incident happened around 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday (Oct. 19) in the 3800 block of Delachaise St. in the Broadmoor area.
Details about the suspect are not available at this time but police say that the known suspect forced his way into the 54-year-old woman’s home, got into a verbal altercation with the victim, and refused to leave. The victim told police that’s when the suspect grabbed a knife and cut her before attempting to suffocate her with a pillow.
The suspect fled from the scene with property that belongs to the victim, police say.
What Can We Learn?
What I found interesting in this article is the time of day the attacker came into the woman’s home. One would assume that the cover of night would be ideal for a criminal. One might also assume that an empty home would be a better option for a criminal. However, crimes are not committed logically. If a person wants something bad enough they will do what it takes in order to get what they want. In this case, it seems the man wanted items the woman had and would go to any length to claim ownership of those items including cutting and attempting to suffocate the homeowner. It is important to know that crimes happen anytime and anywhere. Be prepared, always.
