Concealed Carry

Are You Right or Left Handed?

Right

What features does this gun have that appealed to you?

The light weight at 10.2 oz appealed especially since I am a smaller framed woman and other guns I have concealed are either bulky or heavy. I carry my teal Taurus PT38 in my yoga pants with my brawldog tactical holster. I’ll admit, it was my first gun and I fell for the beautiful Tiffany blue color. Stupid on my part. But it does have a very light trigger pull.

Tell us about shooting this gun.

Unfortunately the casings eject at such a strange angle that they hit you in the face. Doesn’t matter your height, size, or hand positioning, we’ve all had issues with it. It is accurate but in a life or death situation I don’t believe I could be accurate for more than one magazine.

Please share: How does it fit your hand, how do you like the sights, how difficult is it to rack the slide, how would you describe the trigger pull, and how would you describe the recoil?

I have small hands and the gun fits very nicely. I love the sights! Racking the slide is harder and doesn’t start to break in until … well I’ve put 5000 rounds down it and I still have difficulties racking it. The trigger pull is like butter. The recoil isn’t bad but the casings ejecting into your face is very unpleasant.

How reliable is it?

It has occasional feed issues but other than the casings ejecting on your head and inability to shoot hollow points it isn’t too bad.

Any problems with any type of ammunition?

This gun will not feed hollow points. Star point will occasionally feed but I wouldn’t want to bet my life on it. I stick with round nose. And more popular brands.

Does the gun have any specific ammunition requirements? If so, please explain:

Round nose ammunition only.

What do you dislike about shooting this gun, if anything?

Ejecting casings in your face, difficult slide pull, ammunition requirements.

Was it easy to take down and clean? Please share.

Very easy to clean! I watched a YouTube video and replicated it easily.

Would you recommend this gun?

No

For someone considering this gun, what would you tell them?

If you decide to go with this gun, make sure you have a plan B and always only carry round nose. Practice jams and how to fix them in life or death situations because unfortunately this gun was nothing but trouble for me.

Taurus firearms are Ok. Maybe a good gun to have camping or a truck gun. If it got lost or stolen, no big deal or loss. My issue with Taurus is their customer service and warranty. Sent in my G2s .40 because my mags kept falling out of the gun. You could literally pull the mag out without pressing the mag release. Sent the gun in for repair. They sent me an email saying the issue was that I had the wrong mags. I emailed them back and told them that’s the mags that came with the gun. And I’ve shot several rounds out of it with those same mags that you sent/boxed with the gun. Two days later I get another email saying my issue was Customer inflicted not covered by warranty. So I called them. I got a guy on the phone who’s first language was not English. Nor was it his second or third. He said they found a slight very small burr on the slide toward the back from obviously being dropped. I never dropped that gun, never. So I told him, ok even if I did drop the gun that’s got Nothing to do with the mags or mag spring release. He said, yea but the gun was dropped and that voids the warranty. BUT…they could put a new Used slide on for $85.00. It won’t be the shimmering/stainless/aluminum finish I have now, but the blued version. I told them to return my firearm and go screw someone else. They said “we will have to return it with an Unsafe Letter”. Meaning it was not safe to fire. I told them just send me my firearm. Once I got the firearm back, I took it to a gunsmith. He found no burr. Replaced the mag release spring. Gun works fine again. Took it and my 4 other Taurus handguns and sold/traded them for a S&W and a Glock .40 cal. And I will tell Anyone considering a Taurus to spend the extra few bucks and get something else.
