Concealed Carry

Are you right or left handed?

Right Handed

What features does this gun have that appealed to you?

The smaller size of 5.5 inches is easier to conceal. I can wear it comfortably in jeans or leggings (using my Mag-JIC holster from TWAW). Low recoil, crisp trigger pull, comfortable grip, great sights ambidextrous safety and it’s super accurate. It is a beautiful quality made gun with 1911 features made into a smaller gun.

Tell us about shooting this gun.

The smaller size of 5.5 inches fits my hand perfectly. The best feature of this gun is how it shoots. Low recoil, crisp trigger pull comfortable grip, great sights and it’s super accurate. I go to the range weekly and shoot about 100-150 rounds just in my 911 and then about another 50-100 in my other guns. It is such a pleasure to practice with this gun. I am RH but it is actually very easy for me to shoot it one-handed lefty. Even though it is smaller my husband and other male friends really enjoy shooting it as well. I pray I never need to use it in a real-life situation but I feel safe and confident in my ability to use it.

How would you describe the recoil, is it manageable?

Yes, it has low recoil. I can easily shoot it with one hand righty or lefty.

How does it fit your hand, are the controls of this gun easy to use? (Safeties, slide pull, magazine release, trigger pull, etc.)

It was like this gun was made for me. The safety is easy to move on or off with your thumb. The slide is much easier to rack than my other guns. The magazine is easy to release and load. I did order two extra extended mags. I do not like the flush mount mags. The trigger is crisp and I believe it’s a 5-pound pull which for me is perfect.

Do you like the sights on this gun?

The sights are perfect. Pro Glo tritium sight on the front and tritium tactical sights on the back.

How reliable is it?

I shoot about 100-150 rounds through it on a weekly basis and have not had any issues. I have had the gun for almost 3 months. The first couple of weeks I was shooting it twice a week.

Any problems with any type of ammunition?

I primarily shoot LAX New .380 ammo through it. It is heavier at 100 grains and super clean, barely leaves and residue on my hands. Most other manufacturers are about 90 grains and dirty. I was having issues with another .380 ( Glock 42) and someone suggested I try a heavier bullet.

Was it easy to take down and clean?

It is a little bit of a challenge at first and I actually had the gunsmith at my range do it the first time. But he showed us how to do it and now it’s easier.

Is there anything you dislike about shooting this gun?

No, I love shooting this gun and wish I could do it more.

For someone considering this gun, what would you tell them?

Personally, I feel this is the perfect gun for me. It is small, comfortable and easy to shoot. But in addition to that, it is a beautiful high-quality reliable gun that makes me feel safe and confident. I find that renting different guns to compare helps narrow down your choices.

Would you recommend this gun? If no, do you have a preferred gun?

Yes, I highly recommend this gun. I have several different guns in .22, .380 and 9mm made by Glock and Ruger and I really like them all. My Glock 19 is a very close second to the Springfield 911 but I find it too big to carry.

  1. I’ve never shot anything bigger then a .22 when it comes to pistols
I’m curious if this is a good gun for a beginner?
I’ve never dealt with real recoil and I just want to know if it’s something I can handle and feel confident with.

We also have one of these Springfield 911s. I really like everything about it except it was not feeding the cartridges consistently. We changed to a higher grain(heavier bullet) and that seems to be helping. However, I’m not confident in carrying it due to its inconsistent feeding of ammunition. LOVE shooting it at the range though. The sights are GREAT! Accurate too! Hopefully we’ll find the ammunition that’s perfect for this 911 or after it gets broken in the feeding consistency will improve. They are also supposed to be coming out with the 911 in a 9mm as well. I’d be interested in that one as well.
