What features does this gun have that appealed to you?

Most bang for my buck!! 2 mags, holds 14 +1 rounds, S∓W reputation/quality, price is definitely right, added a crimson trace rail guard laser.

Tell us about shooting this gun:

First, I’m left handed but I shoot right handed. I love this gun. Yes it is a bit loud, but the recoil isn’t bad at all – do not be intimidated!! S&W weighted this gun for smooth easy shooting!! Yes it’s a bit big, but I do use it as my conceal carry gun. I put a crimson trace rail guard laser on it (I highly recommend Crimson Trace lasers!!) I had a custom IWB and OWB holster made for it by a local holster maker, and it is smooth like butter!! I’m fortunate to live in the country in Missouri so my range is my backyard. I can practice my shooting anytime I like.

How does it fit your hand, how do you like the sights, how difficult is it to rack the slide, how would you describe the trigger pull, and how would you describe the recoil?

The SD40 VE fits my hand very well. My sights were slightly off when I bought it but was an easy fix. The recoil is not bad at all for a 40 caliber. The slide is easy to rack – which was very important to me (I have problems with my hands due to an accident and have lost grip strength in my right hand). All in all I love my gun and highly recommend it.

How reliable is it?

Extremely reliable. Me – well I’m still working on accuracy, but the gun is a beast!!

Any problems with any type of ammunition?

The first ammo I bought was perfecta (cheapo Walmart ammo) and I had lots of FTFs. But then I switched to a better ammo and I’ve had absolutely no FTFs.

Would you recommend this gun?

Yes.

For someone considering this gun, what would you tell them?

I tell everyone looking to buy a gun for the first time, shoot it first. Shoot several models and compare. Always try before you buy. Your gun is gonna be your partner, and you want a reliable partner that you trust with your life.
