Sig Sauer P320 Compact Usage & Features

Primary Use:

Target Shooting/Training

Are you right handed or left handed?

Right

What features does this gun have that appealed to you?

I am a Sig woman, primarily because of all the pistols I liked and tried, Sig was the only manufacturer I could rack (arthritis has weakened my hand strength). That said, Sig makes a great, reliable product worth the price. This was my first 9mm and the first striker fire made by SIG. So would have to say the striker firing really appealed to me, and the fact that this is a completely convertible handgun.

Tell us about shooting this gun:

Loved shooting this from the very first shot! Great trigger pull – not too hard, not too long, crisp but I feel in control (not such a delicate trigger that it surprises me). Love the 15 round magazine.

How does it fit your hand, how do you like the sights, how difficult is it to rack the slide, how would you describe the trigger pull, and how would you describe the recoil?

Okay . . . My grip is medium (can get small, medium, or large; mine came with medium and fits my grip just fine, and I have fairly small hands. As already mentioned, in general, Sig seems to have slide springs that are make it easier for me to rack, even in this larger model & higher caliber. Trigger pull already covered. Recoil is very manageable for me. Again, arthritis has created an overall weakness in my hands, and the recoil from a typical .40cal or .45cal nearly snaps my wrist off, but this feels about the same as my P238 (.380ACP, which is my CCW).

How reliable is it?

So far, I have not had any problems with the Sig Sauer P320 and have fired approximately 400 rounds.

Any problems with any type of ammunition?

I have used primarily Winchester FMJ (best price @ Walmart) and some Blazer Brass and have not noticed that one performed better than the other (in other words, no jams).

Does this gun have any specific ammunition requirements? If so, please explain:

No specific requirements, but of course, Sig recommends no reloads, which I am sure most manufacturers would since that becomes a confounding factor in terms of performance and reliability.

What do you dislike about shooting this gun, if anything?

So far I have no complaints.

Was it easy to take down and clean?

Takedown of the Sig Sauer P320 is really easy. I have to use a sport glove, again because of hand strength, but the takedown lever just rotates 180 degrees, then slide goes back to disengage the track, slide forward, and slide is off the frame; recoil spring lifts out, and barrel is free.

Would you recommend this gun?

Yes.

For someone considering this gun, what would you tell them?

know the $$$ can seem daunting compared to, say a Glock, which has every bit as good a reputation, but that MSRP is just that – suggested. There is good pricing out there (I got mine at Randall’s in, 51st & Olive), and for a really small shop, I am very satisfied with the price I paid). So do your homework (which I am certain you will).

Anything else you would like to share about the gun?

I am no expert, so cannot comment about comparisons to other guns, but there are some good videos on tube by independent experienced gun users/owners.
