Walther PK .380 Usage and Features

Primary Use

Concealed Carry

Are you right or left handed?

Left Handed

What features does this gun have that appealed to you?

The manual safety appealed to me as an extra measure of safety against going off in my holster. As a first-time gun owner, it adds extra peace of mind.

Also, being left-handed, Walther PK380 is one of the few conceal carry guns that is truly ambidextrous when it comes to releasing the safety as well as releasing the magazine.

Tell us about shooting this gun.

I find it easy to use, aim, fire at target practice. The frame isn’t heavy, so I can hold it up in front of me for a good length of time as I am concentration on making a good shot.

How would you describe the recoil, is it manageable?

The recoil is extremely manageable compared to some other guns I have tried previously. I find it barely noticeable.

How does it fit your hand, are the controls of this gun easy to use? (Safeties, slide pull, magazine release, trigger pull, etc.)

It sits well in my hand. Safety is easy to use, like the flip of a switch. The slide pull is easy, however in the beginning is was pulling it back too harshly and letting it go, which tended to cause the barrel to jam with the first bullet. Magazine release is built into the trigger and accessible from both sides. The magazine releases easily. There is some sort of double tap feature built into the trigger that I haven’t mastered and confuses me sometimes, leading to a bad trigger release and subsequent bad aim. But mostly, one doesn’t have to press too hard for the trigger to do its job.

Do you like the sights on this gun?

I don’t have an issue with it. I like the fact that it has a white mark that lines up, helping with aim.

How reliable is it?

So far, I find the gun reliable and am extremely satisfied with my purchase as a concealed carry weapon.

Any problems with any type of ammunition?

I’ve tried 3 separate kinds so far and have found that it doesn’t work the best with the Mexican brand Aguilla.

Was it easy to take down and clean?

It’s very easy to take down and clean, the only issue I have is with the coil when putting the gun back together. The coil is so springy, it takes me about 12-15 min alone to fight it back into its proper place.

Is there anything you dislike about shooting this gun?

There is nothing I dislike about this gun, in fact, I have begun practicing shooting one handed as well as with my non-dominant hand and it lends itself well to this type of target practice.

For someone considering this gun, what would you tell them?

Great for concealed carry, perfect choice for a left-handed or ambidextrous shooter. Sits perfect in the hand, grip is great.

Would you recommend this gun? If no, do you have a preferred gun?

Yes, I would recommend this gun.
