Are you right handed or left handed?

Right

What features does this gun have that appealed to you?

Ergonomics – grip shape & changeable back straps,   reliability, reputation, quality,  accuracy, easy to rack, good trigger & sights (& “pretty”)

Tell us about shooting this gun:

This is my first gun purchased after about 3 months of “fit testing” multiple varieties in the gun shops & renting another 1/2 dozen. I have been really pleased. It makes shooting fun.  Guessing I have shot over 1000 rounds already.  Brought it to a gathering of newish and experienced shooters who all really liked it (& no misfires). It is very accurate & easy to use.

How does it fit your hand, how do you like the sights, how difficult is it to rack the slide, how would you describe the trigger pull, and how would you describe the recoil?

I love the shape of the grip.  It has a more oval shape & feels like the more natural curve of fingers than a skinny rectangle. (Ax handle)  The back & side straps can be changed between 3 sizes that come with the gun.    I’m using the smallest back strap & it fits perfectly.   The gun has great balance & very minimal recoil. It is striker fired and has a consistent moderate light crisp trigger pull and short reset. VP9 has clear big luminescent sights that make it easy for “older eyes” to find front sight focus quickly even in low light. Racking is easy. Much better than most of the other guns I tried. Can do it with just moving the slide, & the slide release is easy to use.

How reliable is it?

(After repair) I had one misfire in the first 100 rounds, (new shooter – limp wrist?), then have not had any in the 900 + rounds since. (I bought this gun Cerokoted new before I bought it. Unfortunately, the company “forgot” to put back a trigger spring & it didn’t work.  So I had to send it to H&K for repair.  H&K were phenomenal!!! The armorer was excellent, explained the problem & fixed it next day! I had it back repaired the way it was supposed to be within a week.)

Any problems with any type of ammunition?

No, we have tried various brands of FMJ; 115 gr & 124 gr. Recently we have been using factory reloads and still no misfires.

Does this gun have any specific ammunition requirements? If so, please explain:

Not that I’m aware of.

What do you dislike about shooting this gun, if anything?

Initially, I sometimes seemed to get my trigger finger pinched by the trigger guard.  I think I adjusted, and it doesn’t happen anymore…

Was it easy to take down and clean?

Yes.  Nothing complex, same as most.

Would you recommend this gun?

Yes.

For someone considering this gun, what would you tell them?

It is a great option for people with really small hands.  It has the unique European style of the ambidextrous paddle magazine release.  Typically, I am unable to reach mag releases, on this style, I can reach & it is simple to use. It also has extended Picatinny rail for a light attachment.

Anything else you would like to share about the gun?

Really fun to shoot. Really easy to run through the ammo. Try it, you’ll like it. It fits in the TWAW Crossbody Shoulder Bag purse:)
