The Well Armed Woman Pouch First Aid Kit – PFAK – This compact medical kit can be kept just about anywhere in your backpack, range bag, handbag, attached to a belt or a tactical vest or even the strap of a pack. Its purpose is to treat traumatic injuries and give you the tools to get your patient to a higher level of care, even if thats just a bigger kit. It comes packed in a durable Redwire Gear pouch with identifying medical patch, with elastic straps on either side to mount an additional tourniquet and a light source, such as glowstick or flashlight. The PFAK contains a TK4 tourniquet, pressure bandage, hemostatic blood clotting gauze, occlusive seal, trauma shears, medical utility tape, emergency blanket and nitrile gloves. Remember that skills are more important than tools, so get high quality training and practice often! Read “Dirt Medicne – The Basics”
Tourniquet Upgrade The best tourniquets in use today around the world are the CAT (Combat Application Tourniquet) and the SOFTT-W (SOF Tactical Tourniquet Wide). Either of them are an excellent upgrade for any of the TWAW medical kits, or as an add-on since having 2 tourniquets handy is always a good idea. While the IFAK (Individual First Aid Kit) already comes with a CAT, we recommend the CAT or SOFTT-W as an upgrade to the PFAK (Pouch First Aid Kit) to add to its built-in tourniquet strap, and we recommend the SOFTT-W as an upgrade to the AFAK (Ankle First Aid Kit) as it fits inside the kit very well (the CAT is too large for the AFAK).
Chem Lights available for extra charge. Chem Lights, otherwise known as glow sticks, are great for hands free light and take up minimal room plus you dont have to worry about the batteries going dead! These are green glow sticks with a 4 year shelf life, and they will glow for up to 12 hours. They are a great upgrade for any of the TWAW medical kits, especially the PFAK (Pouch First Aid Kit), which has a built-in strap for a glow stick, or other light source, on the outside.
