Springfield Armory XDS Usage & Features
Are you right handed or left handed?
What features does this gun have that appealed to you?
Ambidextrous magazine release, lightweight, concealable.
Tell us about shooting this gun:
I was not a fan. The fit was not great for me.
How does it fit your hand, how do you like the sights, how difficult is it to rack the slide, how would you describe the trigger pull, and how would you describe the recoil?
Feels small in my hands. I’m not a fan of the sights, it is hard for me to see them. No difficulty racking the slide and the trigger pull is nice. Not a lot of recoil.
How reliable is it?
If you don’t have a proper grip, this firearm will NOT fire. The grip safety has to be depressed. I could see this being an issue in an adrenaline-filled situation, such as drawing from concealment to defend yourself.
Any problems with any type of ammunition?
I’ve not experienced any FTF or FTE with 115r or 124gr ammo.
Does this gun have any specific ammunition requirements? If so, please explain:
Never use reloaded, remanufactured, or handloaded ammunition. Only use high quality commercially manufactured ammunition in the same caliber as your pistol. (Note: Use of reloaded, remanufactured, or handloaded ammunition may void the warranty.).
What do you dislike about shooting this gun, if anything?
I dislike the grip safety. It will not fire unless it is depressed. It also feels a little too small in my hands.
Was it easy to take down and clean?
Take down and cleaning is pretty simple.
Would you recommend this gun?
For someone considering this gun, what would you tell them?
ALWAYS go try a firearm before you buy one. Never let a man recommend one for you. I bought this on a man’s recommendation. Had I fired one first, I probably would not have purchased it.
Anything else you would like to share about the gun?
Don’t let my experience keep you from trying one – try it, you might like it!
