Smith & Wesson Bodyguard 380 Usage & Features

Primary Use:

Concealed Carry

Are you right handed or left handed?

Right

What features does this gun have that appealed to you?

I choose the Smith & Wesson Bodyguard 380 based mainly on size and the ability to conceal it.

Tell us about shooting this gun:

The Smith & Wesson Bodyguard 380 has a LONG trigger pull. About the time you think it’s not going to shoot it does. Also due to the small size it’s pretty snappy.

How does it fit your hand, how do you like the sights, how difficult is it to rack the slide, how would you describe the trigger pull, and how would you describe the recoil?

I have large man sized hands so the BG380 could be bigger. My pinky finger hangs off, but I knew I’d be swapping a better hand fit for the ability to hide it. The sights are “okay” nothing to write home about but shoots accurately right out of the box. Rack slides easily and smoothly. Trigger pull, as described above is really quite long, like seriously you wont shoot this thing by accident. Due to the smaller size recoil is obviously there, but totally controllable.

How reliable is it?

I haven’t had it for that long, but I put 50 rounds through it the first time out with no jams or malfunctions. Sights were dead on right out of the box.

Any problems with any type of ammunition?

No.

Does this gun have any specific ammunition requirements? If so, please explain:

No.

What do you dislike about shooting this gun, if anything?

Long trigger pull, even though I was expecting it from reading reviews. Snappy recoil, again was an expectation from reviews.

Was it easy to take down and clean?

I’m by no means an expert, however field stripping was fairly easy. The only thing that gave me any trouble was reinstalling the take down lever/pin.

Would you recommend this gun?

Yes.

For someone considering this gun, what would you tell them?

As with any gun go with what feels “right” in your hand, shoot one if at all possible. The Smith & Wesson Bodyguard 380 a really nice little pistol but could probably intimate the inexperienced or timid shooter.
