Are you right handed or left handed?

Right

What features does this gun have that appealed to you?

The Ruger LCP Custom edition has an enhanced trigger compared to the regular LCP and better sights.

Tell us about shooting this gun:

This gun is snappy but I think most small .380’s are.

How does it fit your hand, how do you like the sights, how difficult is it to rack the slide, how would you describe the trigger pull, and how would you describe the recoil?

The Ruger LCP Custom is small and I feel like I really have to grip it tight. The slide is easy to rack and the custom model has a better trigger than the regular model. The pull is long compared to my Shield, but not too bad. The recoil is snappy.

How reliable is it?

Ok, here is where it gets bad. On my first trip to the range with this gun, the firing pin flew out and the slide got stuck open. The firing pin hit me in the face so my shooting glasses came in handy! I sent it back to Ruger and to their credit they were quick to replace the slide and send it back. However, each time I shoot it, I have one or two misfeeds on each magazine. I sent it back again and they said they fixed the barrel. It still misfeeds and I can tell the ammo gets stuck feeding up to the ramp. Would not trust my life with this gun.

Any problems with any type of ammunition?

Ruger says you have to use factory new ammo. Even with factory new ammo, my gun still has feeding problems.

Does this gun have any specific ammunition requirements? If so, please explain:

Ruger states factory new only.

What do you dislike about shooting this gun, if anything?

It is snappy (nature of the beast of a .380) and it has had problems with the firing pin/slide and barrel. Two trips back to Ruger and it still doesn’t function properly. I will say that Ruger has been quick with shipping labels and fix time. But I want it to work! I will not carry it.

Was it easy to take down and clean?

Getting the pin out the side can be a little troublesome, but not bad. Otherwise it is an easy gun to clean. Smith & Wesson take down is better.

Would you recommend this gun?

No.

For someone considering this gun, what would you tell them?

I hope mine is just a lemon, but I would not trust my life to this gun. I have also fired a Bodyguard and it is snappy as well and an even longer trigger pull, but I would assume I would trust it more because both of my other Smith & Wesson’s have been flawless.

Anything else you would like to share about the gun?

I was so disappointed with Ruger LCP Custom. It is comfortable to wear because of it’s size. I had a beautiful custom red carbon fiber holster made for it too! Too bad it sits in the safe.
