H&K VP9 Usage and Features
Are you right or left handed?
What features does this gun have that appealed to you?
I have small hands and finding a double stack that felt comfortable in my hand was difficult. The VP9 came with a small, medium, and large interchangeable side grips and back strap. I could easily adjust it to fit my hand or anyone else’s.
Tell us about shooting this gun.
I did a lot of research and test shot several guns on my path to finding the gun for me. I immediately knew the H&K VP9 was the one. It fits my hands properly to allow me to obtain the correct grip which helped me improve my shooting. This gun is very accurate and is a lot of fun to shoot.
How would you describe the recoil, is it manageable?
The recoil on the H&K VP9 is very manageable and I am a smaller woman at 5’4”. Out of all of my 9mm’s only my 2011 has lighter recoil.
How does it fit your hand, are the controls of this gun easy to use? (Safeties, slide pull, magazine release, trigger pull, etc.)
The VP9 fits my hand like it was made for it, being able to adjust the grip is wonderful. The magazine release is trigger guard mounted, ambidextrous and easy to access. The slide has a nice smooth pull and is very manageable for a woman with some arthritis (me), and the trigger pull is very nice.
Do you like the sights on this gun?
The sights on the VP9 are a bright 3 dot luminescent and are very easy to acquire. This gun has been consistently very accurate.
How reliable is it?
This gun is very reliable, I have run close to 4000 rounds through my VP9 and had only 2 or 3 malfunctions.
Any problems with any type of ammunition?
I haven’t had any ammunition problems, it seems to run smoothly on everything.
Was it easy to take down and clean?
The VP9 is a very easy gun to take down, it is a part in four steps and goes back together as easy as it came apart.
Is there anything you dislike about shooting this gun?
For someone considering this gun, what would you tell them?
I would say, do your homework, find 3 to 5 guns that you feel will meet your needs. Find a way to try shooting each one. I honestly believe that you will find the H&K VP9 the best handling, best shooting pistol of the bunch.
Would you recommend this gun? If no, do you have a preferred gun?
I would highly recommend this gun.
