Usage and Features
Are you right or left handed?
What features does this gun have that appealed to you?
It’s a revolver, which I prefer.
Tell us about shooting this gun.
It is accurate, well balanced and feels comfortable in my hand.
How would you describe the recoil, is it manageable?
I don’t have any issues with recoil from .38’s or .357’s, but shooting .357’s will make my hands sting a bit after only 5.
How does it fit your hand, are the controls of this gun easy to use? (Safeties, slide pull, magazine release, trigger pull, etc.)
It fits my hand perfect and I’ve had issues with that on other pistols. I prefer to pull the hammer back to lighten the trigger pull as I’m not as accurate if I don’t. It has the Ruger 2 stage trigger, which I like a lot.
Do you like the sights on this gun?
How reliable is it?
Very reliable. It has never failed to fire.
Any problems with any type of ammunition?
None. It has shot many different brands of ammo that I’ve used.
Was it easy to take down and clean?
If you’re cleaning the entire gun, by breaking it completely down, the trigger assembly can be a pain to get back together and usually takes 2 people to hold the hammer spring in place as you are reassembling.
Is there anything you dislike about shooting this gun?
No. It’s my favorite gun to shoot.
For someone considering this gun, what would you tell them?
If you’re looking for a reliable revolver the SP101 is well worth the money.
Would you recommend this gun? If no, do you have a preferred gun?
