Ruger SR9C Special Usage & Features

Primary Use:

Home Protection

Are you right handed or left handed?

Right

What features does this gun have that appealed to you?

Loaded chamber indicator, large capacity and easy to break down.

Tell us about shooting this gun:

I first shot this model when I rented one at my range. I tested a Glock 19 and this one, and I went with the Ruger. It is very accurate in target shooting.

How does it fit your hand, how do you like the sights, how difficult is it to rack the slide, how would you describe the trigger pull, and how would you describe the recoil?

my hands are large, and this gun fits perfectly. The sights are standard 3-dot and just OK, but they could be customized. The slide is very smooth as is the trigger pull.   To me recoil is non-existent.

How reliable is it?

I have never had a misfire.

Any problems with any type of ammunition?

None so far.

Does this gun have any specific ammunition requirements? If so, please explain:

9mm Luger. It is also OK for +P and even +P+.

What do you dislike about shooting this gun, if anything?

It is a bit heavy but OK for me.

Was it easy to take down and clean?

The hardest part was the first time trying to press the ejector down. Then just takedown pin, remove slide, remove spring, and pull out the barrel.

Would you recommend this gun?

Yes.

For someone considering this gun, what would you tell them?

For any gun try to find a range where you can rent and try before you buy. If you can’t do that, at least find a gun shop and handle the gun to see the weight and how it fits in your hand.

  1. Have had a Ruger SR9c since 2013 it’s the perfect size to conceal carry with 10 round magazines or range shooting with the 17 round magazines the trigger is decent and it’s pretty accurate to 25 yards l have replaced the sights guide rod and put a ghost trigger bar all have made the gun better if you get a chance to purchase one under 350 dollars and are looking for a reliable comfortable gun that shoots very close to a full sized gun it’s a winner you can’t go wrong mine is in a carry rotation with my Sig P365 and a Walther P99c and all seem to work extremely well for concealed carry
