Ruger Lc9S Usage & Features
Primary Use:
Concealed Carry
Are you right-handed or left-handed?
Right
What features does this gun have that appealed to you?
The loaded chamber indicated is no present here, does have a manual safety, striker fired. The trigger is greatly improved from the original hammer fired version (lc9). It is much smoother, closer to a glock trigger. This version comes with only one magazine but it is one with a pinky extension.
Tell us about shooting this gun:
The Ruger Lc9S trigger is pretty good, not at all crunchy, around 7 pounds pressure. It’s not a hefty piece so there is a good amount of felt recoil but it’s not a deal breaker for me. Able to get good groupings at 5 yards.
How does it fit your hand, how do you like the sights, how difficult is it to rack the slide, how would you describe the trigger pull, and how would you describe the recoil?
Fits my hand perfectly, not too chunky, not too thin, pinky extension gives me a full hand on the grip. Racking slide is easy. Three dot sites are adequate.
How reliable is it?
Never one jam, no ftf, not one issue after about 1000 rounds.
Any problems with any type of ammunition?
I have put everything from hornaday critical defense rounds to dirty tul ammo thru this weapon with absolutely no problems.
Was it easy to take down and clean?
The Ruger Lc9S take down is quick and simple. Has a takedown pin so be mindful not to lose that.
Would you recommend this gun?
Yes.
For someone considering this gun, what would you tell them?
Shoot one first. If you have tried the old hammer fired version give this one a try as it is a different trigger experience. Hated the hammer fired version, I love this one.
Anything else you would like to share about the gun?
Great for concealed carry due to its slim profile. Don’t like that it only comes with one magazine, Ruger should provide 2 with each gun.
