An Oklahoma woman had an argument with her ex-boyfriend one evening, later that night he viciously attacked her. It was in the early morning hours when she called 911 to report that she had shot and killed her ex in self-defense.

YUKON, Okla. (KFOR) — A Yukon woman shoots and kills an intruder who is her ex-boyfriend.
Police say Sunday morning around 4 a.m., a woman called 9-1-1 after shooting her ex-boyfriend during a break-in and attack.
In the 300 block of Spruce Drive detectives say the man broke into the home and attacked the woman.
“Our understanding is that they had been in an argument that evening. She was not expecting him. And when he did arrive and broke into the residence through the window, she was alarmed and that’s when he had began physically attacking her and yelling at her,” said John Brown, Deputy Chief for the Yukon Police Department. “He was physically attacking her with his hands and had thrown her to the ground a couple of times.”
The woman was able to get a handgun and then shot him in the stomach.
“During this physical attack, she was able to produce the handgun that she had in her possession and then she fired the one shot,” said Brown.
Boyd Jones, 23, of Oklahoma City was pronounced dead at the hospital.
The investigation is ongoing and no arrests have been made.
“It’s always tragic when someone passes away or is killed, especially in this type of situation. But we also understand that in this event, the homeowner she was able to properly defend herself,” said Brown. “We don’t know what his intentions were, but we also understand that he (her ex-boyfriend) physically broke into the house. And any type of situation like that, that’s not normal type of behavior – and in her own residence, she has the right to protect herself. We do understand that she exercised her defense mechanisms in order to save herself.”
The Yukon Police Department will present the case to the District Attorney’s office who will decide whether or not to file charges.

What concerns me most about this story, other than the obvious blatant disregard for the woman’s safety, is the last sentence in the original story. “The Yukon Police Department will present the case to the District Attorney’s office who will decide whether or not to file charges.”
From what we know about this story it seems to me like the woman was defending her life and did what she had to to survive. She was in her home alone and sleeping when her ex-boyfriend attacked. What can we learn from this? Know the laws in your state so you can prepare for whatever the aftermath may be. Get to know a lawyer in your town that has a background in self-defense cases. Be safe out there.

Any such incident would routinely be investigated by the Prosecutors office. I worked in the office of a very pro 2A prosecutor and he would review every shooting. HE also would not plea bargain the weapons charge if that charge was appropriate. The first year he took office there were 11 homcides with firearms. The second year there were ZERO. Enforce the law.
