A New Year, A New You

when women support fist bump

Here we are, in the first days of the new year and while I take a few days to recuperate from the whopper of activity this past year has brought, the most outstanding thing that stands out to me isn’t the huge numbers of women coming into the TWAW family or the increases in sales we have seen, but rather, the growth I have seen in you. I have watched the American woman gun owner grow not only in confidence but in awareness and knowledge of all that is involved in being a responsible, law abiding gun owner.

For most of us, we had no idea of what our new passion for our own self-protection would entail and the many new directions and new understandings we would gain as we started on the journey. We simply decided to buy a gun to protect ourselves and the more we learned and trained, the more new pathways opened up and the more our depth of understanding of all things “gun related” grew. I see this in your emails, hear it in your voices on the phone, in the stories you share with me when I meet you and I see it in your social media posts and comments. I see the new guns you are buying, (and buying and buying!), the tactical training you are taking, the competitive shooting matches you are entering and most importantly I see your confidence rising through the roof!

What I see in you has a significant impact not only on the industry, but in the efforts to defend our Second Amendment rights. What was once predominantly a “Man’s” conversation and fight, now has an army of smart, articulate women warriors who are vigorously debunking the “women are too weak and scared to have a gun and might get hurt” propaganda. I can’t tell you how proud this makes me and you know what? It’s working.

We face some tough times and some significant battles and none of us can sit on the sidelines and watch. Even if they appear to be “minor” or not impact you directly where you live, I believe steps down this path will only lead to larger more sweeping infringements of our constitutional rights. Small initial changes can lead to large unforeseen consequences over time which are masterfully wrapped in the messaging that if we want to end gun violence how could we not agree with it?

There are so many new gun owners entering the ranks, the numbers have been staggering the past few months with record numbers of Americans purchasing firearms and ammunition for the first time and others “Stocking up” in fear of coming restrictions.

My encouragement to you ALL is to also “Stock up” on “Intellectual Ammo”  too. Having a house full of firearms and ammunition won’t stop infringement of our Second Amendment rights, but arming yourselves with a full understanding and knowledge of just what The Second Amendment is, the legislation that threatens it and the using of your voice, your pen and your vote will.
