I have the Ruger EC9S. It has quickly become my preferred EDC gun. It is lightweight and narrow, and fits very easily in my pants pocket with a Sticky MD1 pocket holster. (I will be getting a J&J Wallet Style Back/Cargo Pocket Holster, which will print a lot less than the Sticky holster.) It is so light and narrow I almost forget it is there. And it slips out of my pocket very easily. The thumb safety is very easy to turn off when I draw the weapon, so that the gun is always loaded and ready when in my pocket.

There were only two negatives: Sights are black and hard to use visually; I fixed that with a spot of my wife’s white fingernail polish. Also, the safety was a bit too loose for comfort, so I got it tightened up by a gunsmith. Since doing those two things, this gun has become a delight to carry.

I’ve shot cheap (Blazer) and good (Spear Gold Dot) ammo. Both have fed and shot flawlessly.

  3. Consider this. I am 80 years old. Got my concealed carry in March of 2019. I got my sheriff’s letter yesterday that my permit is to me renewed in 2021. I renewed it yesterday just waiting for them to tell me to come and get it. I used a 22mm semi-automatic for qualifying. I started out with a 40mm and nearly blew my head off. THe instructor put a 22mm in my hand and I qualified quite well i must say 92.7. I am not sure but Being 80yrs old I would like to get a 22mm.
