One Left Dead After Near Home Invasion

Home invasions are a huge fear for so many people. You feel happy, safe, and comfortable in your home. The idea that someone can ruin that in an instant is terrifying. If you have preventatives in place to avoid this situation, that is ideal. If you have a plan in case it happens even with preventatives, that is also ideal. This family had a plan that, though successful, left one man dead.

Suspect Dead After Home Invasion

A suspect was shot and killed by a resident and another is outstanding following a botched home invasion late Sunday night, according to the Bakersfield Police Department.

Around 11:10 p.m. officers were called to the area of University Avenue and Redlands Drive, just west of Columbus Street for a report of an armed robbery at a home.

Upon arrival, officers found a man dead inside the home. He appeared to have died from a gunshot wound from a resident of the home during the robbery, according to police.

A preliminary investigation revealed that the man shot and killed was one of two suspects that committed the robbery.

Police said the resident involved in the shooting was cooperative with police and has not been arrested. They are not charged at this time.”

I have said multiple times that it is important to train, fight back, and know your limits. This article brings to light something else we need to prepare for. What happens if you do fight back and the person you are defending yourself against ends up dead? One aspect to consider is the legality of your actions. You must know your state and local laws. Self-defense is not as cut and dry as it may seem so please do your homework. The second aspect is whether you can handle taking the life of another. This is also not as cut and dry as you might think. Think about situations you may find yourself in and would you use deadly force to get out of that situation?
