Sig Sauer P938 Scorpion Usage & Features

Primary Use:

Concealed Carry

Are you right handed or left handed?

Right

What features does this gun have that appealed to you?

It’s a nice small size, Sig Sauer is a very reliable brand and it looks great!

Tell us about shooting this gun:

I am very accurate with this pistol and it has given me ZERO malfunctions at about 825 rounds.

How does it fit your hand, how do you like the sights, how difficult is it to rack the slide, how would you describe the trigger pull, and how would you describe the recoil?

The gun fits my hand great for a compact. I am pretty tall and have long fingers. The grip on this gun is a little wider than other compacts, so it’s easier for me to feel comfortable with my grip. Also, with the extended mag that comes with the pistol, I don’t have that awkward hanging pinkie. The handle is more square than say, a Glock, which has an oval shaped handle, so for me it is easier to keep a good grip, especially in hot weather. This comes standard with Sig Sights, which are “night glow” raised sights. I have poor vision, but have no difficulty aligning the sights in my dark hallway with no contact lenses in.The sight corners are rounded to prevent it from snagging on clothing during draw.

More

The Sig P938 also has an underside rail where you can mount a laser/LED unit. As with all Sigs, the slide is really easy to rack back, it almost feels like it’s on a ball bearing track compared to other pistols I own. From this compact 9 mm to my .45 1911, I have NO trouble racking Sig Sauer pistols and I don’t feel fatigued from racking them when shooting for long periods of time. The “off the shelf” trigger weight is pretty lights (I can’t recall the weight offhand), but it is lighter than that of other pistols I have. I like a light trigger, so I was pleased that I didn’t have to adjust or upgrade this one. This pistol has very little recoil; I suppose because the pistol itself is a bit heavier than other models its size. I do like the weight, I feel it helps me recover to target better after a shot. Keep in mind though, grip and stance play a huge part in managing recoil.

How reliable is it?

In regards to FMJ, I only purchase the CHEAPEST stuff I can get my hands on. I have put about 800 rounds of FMJ through this. For hollow points, I have put maybe 13 rounds of Hornady Critical Defense through it. So far, it has ZERO failure rate.

Any problems with any type of ammunition?

So far, this pistol likes all brands and quality ammo I have put through it.

Does this gun have any specific ammunition requirements? If so, please explain:

None, just standard 9 mm

What do you dislike about shooting this gun, if anything?

There is nothing I dislike about this pistol! Sig Sauer is my favorite brand because of all the things I described above!

Was it easy to take down and clean?

Not difficult at all, just watch a YouTube video! One tip though, the recoil spring is under a lot of tension, so be careful removing it, it will fly pretty far if you just pop it out and could hurt an eye. Also, it can be pretty trying to get the recoil spring back in if the gun hasn’t been broken in yet.

Would you recommend this gun?

Yes, I would recommend the Sig P938.

For someone considering this gun, what would you tell them?

I would not tell you to go and buy one today. I would tell you to test drive the Sig P938 and several others to pick the one that is right for you. If it feels good and you can hit a target with it, it’s for you! I have made some impulse firearm buys and have been disappointed a few times (and lost about $150 in trade in). It’s better to do some research and try them out before making that investment. Firearms are expensive, and you can’t return them for a full refund if you don’t like them. Would you buy a vehicle without driving it first?? This particular gun is a little pricey, but you DO get what you pay for with Sig Sauer products. If I were buying just a range pistol, I would have passed this one up. But this is my everyday carry, and I am willing to pay more for a firearm I know I can count on if I need to defend myself or loved ones.

Anything else you would like to share about the gun?

The Sig P938 is really fun, and comes with several looks (different wooden grips, coatings and finishes). The profile doesn’t stand off much, so it’s easy to conceal. This is Sig Sauer’s 2nd smallest gun. The smallest is the P238 in .380 caliber. It looks exactly the same, just a tad bit smaller and lighter.
